Cheeko is a 15 + year old Timneh African Grey Parrot. Cheeko came to us after his owner sadly passed away last year.He had been rescued 15 years ago by his previous owner from a shipment of illegally imported Timnehs that came into Liverpool. He had a badly broken wing which unfortunately cant now be fixed.He had lived in an aviary with other birds & wasnt used to much human contact. On arrival Cheeko was clearly terrified & very timid. We gave him lots of time to settle in &a good diet. Cheeko shares a room with Nellie but has his own cage. After a few months of quielty talkig to Cheeko, he started to accept treats from me, then he started to show interest in Nellie. Now Nellie & Cheeko are firm freinds, she bosses him a little( she bosses everyone!) but he doesnt seem to mind. They hang out together & I often find them off on an adventure, usually somewhere they shouldnt be!Cheeko now gives me kisses, goes into his cage at bedtime willingly & loves his food- he has come out of his shell both with me & with Nellie.
Update on Cheeko- Cheeko has a very old wing injury & struggles to get around as a result he has moved into our special needs area with Rosie in order to keep him safe, we are hoping to find some medical solution for his problem but we have been advised he wont do well under anaesthetic so we are stuck at the moment. Nellie visits him every day & plays for a while.We need to raise more money to help Cheeko.
We now have 2 new "flock" members, but not of the feathered variety! Iggy is a 3 year old Iguana who came to us over Christmas, he is a very calm boy who likes his cuddles. Yoshi is a 6 month old Green Iguana who we adopted around 4 months ago. Both previous owners felt they could no longer meet these guys needs.
